Dad took his largest whitetail with a bow in 2008, after the firearms season to boot. I was fortunate to be in on the recovery and that story will be in My Bend of the River, my upcoming third book.
Brother Kevin has killed several dandy whitetails, most over a decoy including this one. He is Store Leader at the new Scheels All Sports store in Springfield, IL.
Butch Blankenau gets it done again with his longbow.

Hunting friends near and far in the field. If you have a copy of 'My Neck of the Woods' or 'Platte River Driftwood', send us a photo of you from the field and we'll include it here.
Our pilot, Jack Lechner of Cub Air, taxis away from short to us alone to do-it-ourselves on Kodiak Island, Alaska.
With a .44 magnum on my belt I felt a "little" more comfortable in brown bear country. Here I'm getting water straight from a melting snowbank high on the mountain.
Back in Kodiak after our hunt with our pilot, Jack Lechner (center). We totally enjoyed our time spent with this gentleman before and after the hunt. Now retired, he was the only Super Cub operator at the time on Kodiak. Scott is on the left, Bryce on the right.

2005 Sitka Blacktails on Kodiak Island, Alaska
My brother Scott and I enjoyed a fantastic fly-in drop camp hunt on an alpine, early season hunt on Kodiak Island, Alaska. On the menu were Sitka blacktails, while we tried to avoid the island's notorious brown bears.
An awesome bend in the Athabasca River while were on the bush flight in. Would've loved a closer look at this.
Getting ready to lose some altitude and land on this wild river for the start of a week of bear hunting.
With the incoming plane bringing brother Scott and other hunters, and just before loading myself up for departure...for a short time three of the four Lambley brothers are united, a long way from their childhood home in Nebraska.

2009 Athabasca River Black Bears in Alberta...
Brother Jason and I fly into a remote, wild river in northern Alberta to hunt black bears on the Athabasca River.
My go-to bows are the Pronghorn longbows made by Herb Meland of Casper, WY. Many of you have seen my "Green Machine" but I took "Blondie" to the stand this time. At 62" in length, I'd done more shooting with her in preparation for turkey hunting out of a blind. I also used 2018 aluminums with 5" four-fletch as is my standard. These are fletched in my home school's colors.
McMurray Aviation is used to transport hunters in and out of this remote spot on the Athabasca River where Hunts From the Heart conducts their Alberta bear hunts. The three guys leaving camp as we entered, were each taking two bears with them and spoke glowingly of their week on the river.
Mike Ronspies and Donavin Larocque pause while scaling the slopes of the Athabasca River bluffs.

2013 Black bears on the Athabasca River in AB
It's a return to the wild and powerful Athabasca River in northern Alberta, this time by driving 3,334 miles roundtrip (something I'm not sure I would do again!) to the remote outpost of Ft. McMurray.
